As we celebrate Veterans Day November 11, 2019, we reflect on how important it is to thank our veterans every day. After all, our veterans are the reason we remain free to live life as we do in the United States of America, the land of the free.
Veterans Day was enacted in 1954 to honor all veterans for their service, after Congress amended The Act of 1938 that designated November 11th Armistice Day to honor WWI veterans. Since then, Veterans Day is a day to reflect on the service of all military members throughout our history.
A day is not nearly enough to appropriately recognize our appreciation so we've compiled a list of ideas of ways to recognize veterans on their holiday and everyday!
- Attend a Veterans Day event in your area
- Fly an American Flag
- Donate to a Veterans cause or charity
- Display the official veterans awareness ribbon
- Send thank you notes to the veterans you know
